Nrishinga Nitai and Jaya Dayini prabhus

My desire to distribute books is actually only one part of the preaching project my husband, Nrishinga Nitai das, and I have started in southwest Atlanta. We are hoping to reach out to the black community here in the city both by doing weekly book tables on and around the campuses of the HBCUs at the Atlanta University Center and at local events. We also want to be in a position to start meeting neighborhood people and inviting them to programs in the house we've rented. We have large Jagannath deities and have set up a temple-like worship standard for Them as our first step. The next step is the book tables. In order to pay for things, I'm working part-time (I'm an ESL teacher by profession), but would like to be able to avoid the entanglement of full-time employment so as to have the time to do this project. We don't have much money beyond the rent and bhoga, though, so a book donation would be really helpful.

Briefly, we are both disciples of HH Jayapataka Swami and have been serving in ISKCON both here in Atlanta and abroad. Originally from Boston, I joined in Italy in the early 90s, and moved to Atlanta in 1996. My husband is from Assam, but he joined in Mayapur and did his bhakta training (and later, pujari training) there. He then served Sri Sri Rukmini Krsna in Guwahati for over 13 years prior to moving to Vrindavana where he was a pujari on Sri Sri Gaura Nitai's altar for about 10 years before coming to the US. In recent years, we've had the mercy to spend extended time in Vrindavana, but in the end, we returned to the US to see if we could do some preaching somewhere - both of us are primarily temple devotees, and have never really had a lot of preaching experience. As Atlanta is a predominantly black city, we came up with this idea of trying to bring Krsna Consciousness to the true residents of this city.
