Her Grace Mohanasini devi dasi
Book distribution in New Orleans, Louisiana

I live in Moss Point, Mississippi, aboard the Jai Nimai Nitai Floating Temple and future traveling preaching center.  The projects I currently work for are New Orleans Food for Life and Jai Nimai Nitai Temple. I have done sankirtan for the past 33 years. I started distributing Srila Prabhupada's Back to Godhead magazine in 1973 and continued for 3 years. I assisted in fundraising for ISKCON Relief/Food for Life for 20 years and in 1995 I started book distribution again and have been engaged in that service ever since. Currently I distribute books in New Orleans, Louisiana, every weekend. My favorite books to distribute Higher Taste, Soft Bound and Hard Bound Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavad Gita Interactive CD and the Library of Vedic
Devotees onboard the Jai Nimai Nitai celebrating Mohanasini prabhu's birthday
Culture.

To please Srila Prabhupada is the most nectarean service, and I have confidence that distributing his books is the most pleasing activity I can perform. I have been asked to share some of my fond memories about book distribution. Well, it seems there is something wonderful that happens every time that I go out on Sankirtan. I have given a Bhagavad- gita CD to Steven Spielberg. I have given a Bhagavad-gita to Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future). I gave a book to Raymond Burr before he died. I always feel happy to give books to everyone, but I think when someone of prominence gets a book, that if it has a positive effect on them, then they will have the ability to influence so many others, so I take greater joy in distributing to those individuals. But truly, since everyone is a spirit soul, I am so happy to get a book in anyone's hands. Here is a cool thing that happened this last weekend. As I was offering the book (which I always pre-bag for their convenience), the man says, "What is it? A Bhagavad Gita?" Amazed, I said, "Well yes it is." He says, "Well, my wife is already reading that...", so I started to try to describe how this is the authorized version, no changes from the original Sanskrit text. Then his wife joins us and I ask her who translated her Bhagavad Gita. She says, "Uh I can't remember his name, you know, the man that started the, uh..." then I fill in the blanks....".the Hare Krishna Movement?" "Yeah, him", she replies. "You mean, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada?" Excitedly, "Yeah, that's him! " Then she says, "I've been borrowing my daughter's Bhagavad Gita." So since the man had previously thought he didn't need one, I turned to her and said, "Here, now you have your own! "

Also last weekend: as the fellow pulled the book out of the bag I package them in, he says, "Oh God! I have always wanted this Book! I have read so many books that refer to this book and I have been wanting this book!" He had already given $40 and after 5-10 minutes, he passed back by and gave me another $20!
